Iguatemi, one of the largest full-service companies in Brazil’s shopping mall industry, enhances the efficiency and resilience of its IT services by migrating to Edge UOL’s Cloud.
The company’s activities encompass the conception, planning, development, and administration of regional shopping malls, outlets, and mixed-use real estate complexes with commercial towers. Iguatemi holds stakes in 14 shopping malls, 2 Premium Outlets, and 3 commercial towers, totaling 724,000 square meters of gross leasable area (GLA), with its own GLA accounting for 477,000 square meters. Additionally, the company operates the Iguatemi 365 marketplace.
To furnish the necessary technology resources to support its entire network of shopping malls, Edge VMware Cloud was chosen to virtualize its environments, transitioning from hosting on a dedicated physical computing environment to a more agile cloud with greater processing capacity.
Our challenge
To provide cloud services with greater processing capacity and scalability for Iguatemi’s workload migration.
Edge UOL also implemented a comprehensive Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution in both cold DR (offline replica) and hot DR (online replica) formats, ensuring the protection and continuity of Iguatemi SA’s business operations.
How we solved it
- We assessed the total resources consumed by Iguatemi’s on-premises environment and provisioned resources in Edge UOL’s own cloud, providing flexibility and agility to accommodate business growth.
- Cold DRaaS implementation was orchestrated in Edge VMware Cloud, where Iguatemi S.A. defined the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) for each virtual server and the number of restoration points (Retention).
- Hot DRaaS, for more sensitive systems, involved synchronous replication orchestrated by the application installed on the server.
