This journey, which began on December 3, 2021, introduced a cutting-edge alternative to the market, uniquely serving organizations across various sectors through technologies essential to business evolution in the digital world: Edge Computing, 5G, and next-generation IT infrastructure services.
Interestingly, Edge UOL (a UOL Group company) was born at a critical moment in the country’s technological evolution, just as it was about to experience 5G technology. This fifth generation of mobile networks will revolutionize countless business applications and change society’s daily life, transforming people’s lives. That is what innovation is all about.
5G confirms that the world is in constant flux and that we must reinvent ourselves at every moment. New technologies and possibilities are constantly being created. To give you an idea, according to the research firm OMDIA, 5G will be responsible for creating more than 22 million jobs and generating over $13 trillion in the global economy by 2035.
It is no coincidence that the 5G auction in Brazil was the largest in history, yielding 46 billion reais. According to news reports, it may have been the largest in the world as well! The technology is up to 20 times faster than 4G, supports many more devices per square kilometer (from 10k to 1M), offers low latency (from 10ms to less than 1ms), consumes less energy (due to new antennas), and allows for the creation of different virtual networks for various requirements using the same infrastructure. 5G is not just about connectivity; it is about business transformation.
